Click on the small images to discover how to get this look.

This look is inspired by travel to far-flung shores, with its new experiences, new sensations, and of course the stunning colours of the Orient and the Far East. Scour antique shops for trinkets, or use your own mementoes from markets and bazaars, mixing all these styles for an exciting, eclectic look. Strong colours are central to this trend – a rich orange is both warm and exotic, and works well with rich, spicy reds or luscious pinks, but also earth-tones and terracotta.

As a contrast colour, try offsetting with a shade of blue – a Japanese-style flower stencil is a real eye-catcher, and is easy to do. Use fast-drying, water-based quality acrylic paints to give you a great, durable finish. If you really want to give this look your own personal twist, and at the same time capture the flavour of your travels, take a favourite holiday snap-shot to your local paint supplier and get the colours tinted to match your photo.
