Rich fabrics, colour and detail are the key to this look. Shimmering organzas and silks are trimmed with beads or embroidery and sit against natural wood tones, waxed to allow the beauty of the grain to shine through. Wood clad walls are washed with subtle colour, whilst tired chairs are painted to sit within the scheme.
Pick up on paisley with the latest soft furnishings in rich fuschias, burgundy and aubergine. Keep walls plain and paint in soft tonal shades or go for all out impact by echoing the motif with random stamping or stencilling - a great way to use left over paints. Set against rich, dark stained or painted boards.
Take inspiration from that bollywood staple, the sari, now being used to create many of this season’s hottest soft furnishings. Pick out one colour from within the design to paint walls or woodwork, then echo detailing on surfaces and accessories using the latest metallic gold or bronze paints and sprays.
